Come sing with us!
Side by Side Singing for the Spring will be hosted by Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher. It will be an opportunity to participate in community singing in a relaxed atmosphere on Friday afternoons at 1:30 on May 6, 13, and 20.
Each session will begin with vocal warm-ups, followed by singing rounds and well-known songs. Singers will be led in exercises to improve their breathing and vocalization. This is not a demanding performance choir with specific choral parts! We will be singing for the joy of it — and possibly improving our health at the same time!
The repertoire will include popular songs as well as introducing new songs and rounds. We have added several new songs to our songbooks, many of them well-loved Broadway show tunes such as “I’m Getting Married in the Morning” and “Oklahoma.”
Parking is free. The sessions are free. The sanctuary is handicap-accessible. You need not read music nor be an experienced singer to participate fully.

Side by Side Singers enjoying the music.
In the good old Summertime . . . lots of people love to gather together and sing songs like “My Favorite Things,”
“Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and “This Land is Your Land.” If you are one of them — come to Biltmore United Methodist Church on Highway 25 in Asheville (just south of where I-40 crosses over highway 25) and join with us. We have two more sessions of Side by Side. We start singing at 1:30 on Wednesdays August 19 and 26. Light refreshments follow the singing. Sessions are FREE. Debbie Nordeen and Ruthie Rosauer are facilitators who are joined by Jan Mallindine on guitar and vocals.
Lots of friendsly volunteers, who also love to sing, will be there to give you a name tag and hand out song books and rhythm instruments. Some of them are in the picture below.
